·         Approves designs, ECOs, drawings including GD&T.

·         Researches alternative materials, components, processes and methods.

 

2005 - 2006: Administrative Project Planner, Sea Tel, Concord, CA.

·         Planned and administered engineering development projects.

·         Wrote ECOs, manufacturing and ISO procedures.

·         Coordinated the company’s successful ISO re-certification.

·         Researched WEEE and RoHS and developed a company position statement.

 

2004 - 2005: Drafter Sea Tel, Concord, CA.

·         Generated and updated AutoCAD 2000 and Solidworks drawings.

·         Implemented ECO changes to BoMs and other documentation.

 

2001 - 2003: Manufacturing Engineer Curtis Instruments, PMC Division, Livermore, CA.
(Manufacturer of custom electric motor controllers used in golf carts, mobility aids, and forklift trucks.)

·         Partnered with electrical, mechanical, software and QA engineers to develop, sustain and improve products.

·         Planned and defined production processes, estimated labor costs and predicted manpower requirements.

·         Wrote ISO procedures and manufacturing method sheets, (developed picture-friendly PowerPoint format).

·         Trained production workers, leads in new methods and equipment.

·         Checked production drawings for manufacturability, tolerance stacks; evaluated first article samples.

·         Wrote and reviewed engineering change notices, (ECNs).

 

1995 - 2001: Operations Coordinator/Manufacturing Engineer Curtis Instruments, PMC Division, Dublin, CA.

·         Gave mechanical engineering support to manufacturing.

·         Made manpower predictions, prepared expense and capital budgets, planned facility layouts, designed packaging, contract manufacturer interface.


1993 - 1995: Design Engineer, ZMI, Danville, CA (contract basis)

·         Automotive cruise control project for a group of investors.

·         Lead a cross-functional team to develop the electronics and control software, including FMEA.

·         Low cost electro-mechanical actuator design. Injection molded plastic, stamped and die cast metal parts.

·         Design for manufacture (DFM) via reduced parts counts and use of stock v. custom parts.


1991 - 1993: Senior Engineer, Joalto Design Inc., Pacifica, CA (left due to funding problems)

·         Entrepreneurial start-up environment selling a safety-related concept to the automotive industry.

·         Designed systems and details, re-designed gearbox, wrote patent submissions.

·         Assisted in presentations at most of the domestic and import automotive manufacturers.

·         Provided on-site customer support at Ghia, (Turin).


1985 - 1991: Project Engineer, Zemco Group Inc., San Ramon, CA (co folded)

·         Tier 1 automotive supplier and high volume manufacturer, designed in US, built in Taiwan.

·         Low cost electro-mechanical design with injection molded plastic and stamped metal parts.

·         Gathered customer requirements from automotive importers such as Nissan, Mitsubishi.

·         Developed product specifications, did FMEAs, then lead a cross-functional team to deliver the product.

·         Complete product cycle management from initial customer contact through design and development, validation, customer acceptance and on-going program maintenance. E.g. the Nissan VSS and Mitsubishi alarm systems.

·         Applied DFM principles to reduce cost of high volume vacuum servo valves and a Chrysler vacuum actuator.

·         Developed a "universal" hardware strategy to prevent installation kit proliferation.

·         Wrote and illustrated installation manuals, trained installers, made an installation video.
